European Researchers' Night: Team ZEFIRO highlights Urban Air Mobility

On September 26th, the picturesque setting of Valentino Park served as the backdrop for Team ZEFIRO's participation in the European Researchers' Night. The team showcased the structure of the VESPA Mk1 to the public and offered visitors the opportunity to try out the prototype on the flight simulator.

What is the European Researchers' Night?

The European Researchers' Night is an initiative promoted by the European Commission with the goal of connecting people of all ages to the world of science. This is achieved through hands-on workshops, exhibitions, open-air experiments, and direct interactions with those who conduct research every day.

Within this framework, the Student Teams from the Politecnico di Torino, including Team ZEFIRO itself, had the opportunity to showcase the fruits of their hard work, capturing the attention of attendees with interactive experiences.

The exhibition at Parco del Valentino

In one of Turin's most fascinating settings, countless booths came to life, hosting over 350 activities. Between workshops, exhibitions, and prototypes on display, visitors were able to experience an authentic 360-degree immersion into science and research.

VESPA Mk1

VESPA Mk1

At our exhibition space, we offered the public the thrill of piloting thanks to a simulation station specially created to bring younger generations closer to the reality of flying. The digital model to be flown was the VESPA Mk1, our agricultural eVTOL displayed just a few steps away: this allowed us to merge the virtual world with the real one, giving curious onlookers the chance to observe up close and touch the carbon fiber components of the prototype firsthand.

Seeing the wonder in the children's eyes, the moment they realized they were virtually piloting the exact same aircraft physically located right behind them, was incredibly rewarding and filled us with pride for the work done so far.

The perfect opportunity to introduce the world of aviation

Participating in the European Researchers' Night represented an invaluable opportunity for us. It allowed us to share our passion for aeronautics with a diverse audience, reaching straight to the hearts of the youngest attendees: the very ones who, tomorrow, could represent the future of our sector.
